Knit Wits shop awning installation

We recently installed this end-mounted full cassette shop awning at Knit Wits, on Causeway Head, Penzance. The Fabric is a Stiloperla Acrylic Canvas and we also supplied the custom fabric print on the valance. The awning was supplied by Breezefree Ltd who we usually supply with all their sailmaking and fabric requirements.

North Kite repairs

We have noticed that we have been repairing a lot of North Kites with the same damage to the fabric panel attaching the centre strut to the main canopy (see pictures – before and after). We wonder if this might be a warranty issue as it appears that this panel is not suitably reinforced. Either way we can undertake any kite repairs to get you back on the water. (Note we also spend time unpicking DIY kite repairs-it is harder than you think to make them fly true!)

The Ross Windsurf team (part of RB Sails) has taken the experience and knowledge gained from building and repairing thousands of sails and has produced what we think is our best ever custom windsurfing sail. Super-tough x-ply and Kevlar construction is combined with radical colour schemes and a bold new Celtic Cross logo to give a sail that will stand out on any beach.

The Ross Chuckster wave sail has been thoroughly tested in the wildest Cornish wavesailing conditions. The mega-high winds this season have also allowed us to refine the design to give a light-in-the-hands manoeuvre sail that also has great top end control.

Ross Windsurf has designed the Chuckster around skinny masts for ultimate strength. Note that we import Nolimitz masts (the original and best RDM skinny mast) and are happy to discuss a package deal that gets you on the water with the best sail and mast at a truly competitive price.

Although we build to order (giving you a chance to chat about colours and designs) we have a full range of sizes proven to work with riders of different weights and abilities. At RB Sails we build our wave sails to tackle everything the Cornish coast can throw at them. When it came to choosing an ideal mast we needed to be confident it was up to the job. We also wanted a mast with a bend curve that would suit the widest possible range of sail manufacturers. Nolimitz are composite technology experts and introduced the first skinny mast on the market back in 1992.

Customers have reported that Nolimitz skinnies have even improved the performance of older sails, offering a forgiving ride that is especially noticeable in radical moves. A common comment is that the sail keeps its power but somehow seems more forgiving. Sailors report being able to handle big jumps and landings that would have previously pulled the rig out of their hands. Nolimitz masts will make your sails breathe more easily.

Team RB Sails triumph at the BWA Mormaii Cornwall Classic

A fantastic result for our local windsurfers and RB Sails! In classic Marazion conditions the RB Sails’ team of Harvey Dawkins, Sam Lawley and Martin France used custom wavesails from Ian Ross to beat all of the visitors and win the team event. Harvey competed against some of the best amateurs in the country to get an excellent individual forth place while Sam and Martin managed to win the Ladies and Masters categories respectively.

Surf Kayak travel bags

Custom board bags are a common request for us here at RB Sails, but this post is to say that we recently did our first surf kayak travel bags (a Mega Reflex, followed swiftly by a Mega Boost kayak). These kayaks look really nicely finished, so if you want to protect your kayak from the inevitable knocks and bangs then give us a call.
